Haiku

For this task we had to try make a haiku based on summer.

A haiku is a poet that has 5 syllables, 7 syllables , lastly 5 syllables again.

My haiku is about being at the beach. Here is my haiku: Sun shining on me, relax on the hot yellow sand, enjoy a nice ice cream.

This is my favourite task yet.

Ben here from the SLJ commenting team.

So great to hear that you’re enjoying our SLJ activities. You’ve achieved so much already and we’ve only just started!

I noticed that your syllables were not in line with the 5-7-5 haiku structure. That said, poetry is a very fluid art so it's not a big deal. But if you’re wanting to be certain about your syllables then you could check out this website.

    https://syllablecounter.net/

You can write a word or sentence on the website and it will tell how many syllables there are. Very handy for double checking when we’re unsure.

    Mā te wā,

    Benjamin
