Prototec

For maths I challenged my self on Prototec to see how fast I am remembering my basic facts.
My time was an epic 41 seconds. To be honest that was faster than I imagined. Next i'm challenging myself to do the next stage.

LI: To remember basic Addition, Subtraction and Multiplication

Fact Find

For Fact Find I decided to talk about the British Hawk, Jason Statham. If you don't know who he is he is an British actor. He has been in numerous of movies like, Hobbs and Shaw, Crank, The Expendables and many more. Who was also in the Olympic British team for 12 years. He was also a Mixed Martial Artist as a kid and Kick boxing expert.

Explain That Idiom

What is a Idiom? An idiom is a phrase that means something different from what the words usually mean. For example Rip off, the literal meaning will be Ike ripping your shirt but the figurative meaning is too expensive.

For this task we had to use an idiom and record while using that idiom. The Idiom I did was ripp off.
My Idiom I act was with Villiami. This Act is about at the library buying a book to borrow but then my character says it's a rip off because it is too expensive.

I loved learning Idioms because it's something new and fun to learn and hopefully I can use a Idiom in a sentence.

SSR SELFIE

This week for SSR Selfie my book was called The League Of Suphero Games. This book mostly talks about different characters like Swamp thing, Deathstroke, The Great Batman and a 101 more.
The book also explains about how much of a impact superhero games and DC have done to the world. I really enjoyed this book because I learnt more information about DC and how big it's gotten from the very beginning.

LI: To retell a text

What is a conversation?

A conversation is one and another communicate to each other. When a conversation is held it involves quotation marks (Speech marks).

It's important to use speech marks to identify when the conversation is held and to clarify who is speaking.

On the slide it shows a example of the meaning and what a conversation looks like when it's held.
There is 4 examples, 2 on the second slide for the meaning and 2 others on a their own separate slide slide.
In a story remember to always use quotation marks (speech marks) to show who is speaking while making a conversation.

LI: To write and explain what a conversation is.

Descriptive Writing

LI: To describe using interesting language features

Today I did the activity called descriptive writing. I used interesting language features. My sentence was the great Muhammad Ali knocked out Sonny Liston with a spectacular right hook. Here is my descriptive writing photo.

Comment thread

For commenting I decided to comment on Kahu's blog post about where Kupe's Waka Landed.
His blog post was really good. It was really hard to think of a dialogic question. Then I created the sentence which was, " do you have a understanding on why most boats (waka) landed next to Auckland".

Basic facts

For basic facts I took the speed demon challenge up to 10. My time was 3 minutes and 58 seconds.
I think my time was kind of descent. Hopefully I can get a much faster time. My next goal is to do up to 20 then 100's.

Where the Waka arrived

This week for inquiry we had to make a google map. We had to mark where all the waka went. This was hard because I had to find the exact location. They mostly land next to Auckland.

3D Shape Nets

What is three dimensional shape? A shape that can be measured three ways by moving it : Up and down, in and out and left-right.

What is a net?A net is a pattern made when the surface of a three-dimensional figure is laid out flat showing each face of the figure.

For this task we had to use a 3 dimensional shape and find the net and the real version of the shape.
We had to either create the net or find the net online. I decided to find a net online. It was really because it showed images of the shape in it's full form.

I found this task really fun because I learnt new things like the net of a shape. I also didn't know most shapes involve a Polyhedron.

LI: To make nets by "unfolding" a 3d shape

Complex sentence

For this activity I made an DLO called complex sentence. How to make a complex sentence is to use a simple sentence and add an AAWWUUBBIS in the middle. The AAWWUUBBIS words are after, although, as, while, when, until, before, because, if, since. If you change it to the other way it will sound correct. To find more information to make a complex sentence look at my slide that I made.

Commenting

LI: To comment on someones blog post

For commenting I commented on Elaario's Blog Post about his 3d art. I had to think of a fact that I think he did not know. I thought this question was really dialogic. Although his blog post was really good.

Kiwi Can

LI: To learn about Role Models

For Kiwi can we talked about what is Role Model. A Role Model is someone that really inspires and who you look up to.

For example Joseph Parker who taught me to respect others no matter what. We also talked about how to be an ourselves.

To be an Role Model you have to inspire someone and show them the rights of life. I think this weeks session was really fun.

Basic facts

LI: To remember your basic facts

For basic facts I took the speed demon challenge upto 5. I had got all of the answers correct. My time was 2 minutes and 58 seconds.  I improved my time by one minute. Hopefully I can get a much faster time.

SSR Selfie

LI: To summarise a book

For SSR Selfie my book was called Liar bird. This book talks about him lying to all of the other animals like a Koala and a fox. Liarbird is very good at lying to others. I like this book because it's really funny and I enjoy reading it. Hopefully there is a second story about Liarbird.

Writing

LI: To learn about a Complex Sentence

For writing we learnt about complex sentence and what the conjunction of a complex sentence is.
The conjunction of complex sentences is aaawwubbis which stands for after, although, as, while, when, until, because, before, because, if and since. A complex sentence is one simple sentence added on with the a incomplete idea. To create a complex sentence, you need to first think about a simple sentence. Then you have to think what conjunction to used like while. Then you have to think of some extra information which is the incomplete idea. Lastly, use one more conjunction and then put it all together.

Tessellation

LI: To create a Tessellation

What is a Tessellation? A tessellation is using shapes repeatedly which eventually creates a form of art. To make a tessellation need to figure out what shape you are using. After making the formation of your tessellation the next step is figure out the colours to make the pattern. Below you can see an example of what can of colours that can be used. Lastly make it look spectacular.

First Waka

Originally there were no people in New Zealand. The first people to settle in New Zealand came in a series of waka.

The first ten waka were named Kurahaupō, Mataatua, Tākitimu, Tainui TeArawa, Aotea, Tokomaru, Horouta , Uruao and Ārai-te-uru.

Most of the waka visited the north island, some of the places the waka landed at were Takou bay, Nelson and Moeraki.

The ten waka came to New Zealand to discover new land for people to live.

LI: To learn about the first waka that arrived in NZ.

Reading

LI: To talk about someone or something

For reading we had to do a can d like SSR Selfie, Explain that idiom and more. I chose to do Fact find. For this task you have to talk about something or someone like a rugby player. For find fact my person was Chelsin Kolbe. Chelsin Kolbe is a South African player who plays wing and fullback.
This task also can help you find new information or facts about someone. I think this can do is super amazing for our educational learning.

For badge betting I earned the badge called Excellence and innovation. I got this badge for finishing off the main 4 blog post which are reading, writing, maths and inquiry. My next badge that i'm aiming for will be confidence.

Commenting

LI: To comment on someones blog post

For commenting I decided to comment on sasuke blog post about Kupe and Cook. I first thought of a question which is dialogic about Cook. My question was " do you have an understanding about why Cook mapped NZ for the world to access. Lastly I published it.

Kiwi Can

LI: To learn why it is important to listen

Our new topic is listening. Listening is important at school so you know what you are doing. It's also important at home is well so you don't get in trouble. For example if there are kids looking up to you and your ignore they will start hating you. We played game which involves listening which was called Kiwi Can whisper.  This game is basically Chinese whisper but the Kiwi can version.
Listening is really important so you what you are doing and you don't get in trouble.

Basic facts boxes

SSR Selfie

LI: To retell or summarise a text

For SSR Selfie my book was called endangered animals. This books talks about our behaviour and what we are doing to animals. Most of our behaviour to animals is negative. Animals are dying from us not putting our rubbish away in the bin. To stop make this happen we need to pick our rubbish and put in the bin. Hopefully animals will stop dying and feel safe.

Kiwi Sport

LI: To learn the basics skills of rippa rugby

First we did a more veteran version of passing. In this passing drill we had run to a blue con, than we had to pass the ball to our teammate and they had to pass the ball back. Then we had to zig zag across each cone which was in front of the the blue cone. Lastly we ad to run around a flag once and pass the ball.We had to do this until all of our team is sitting down. We had to see who could do this the fastest between the Green team and the Red team.

Then we played a game of rippa. The 1st the red team wore winning by 2 tries. My team (the green team) stated to defend more better. Then in the 2nd half we had a comeback. We score 2 tries in a blink of an eye. This session was extremely fun, hopefully we can play St Patricks School next week.

Early NZ Exploration

LI: To learn about Kupe & Cook's exploration to NZ

Kupe and Cook are 2 important explores in the New Zealand history.

Kupe was an Polynesian explorer who arrived to New Zealand in the 1100's. He travelled by using a traditional sail boat. Myths say that he followed a Giant octopus which lead him to New Zealand. He made his voyage in search for a new land for his people.

Cook was an British explore who was sent to search around the pacific ocean. He arrived to New Zealand on his boat the endeavour in the 1769. He came to trade with the Polynesian which eventually created his death.

Kupe is important because he was the first documented person in NZ.Cook is important because he mapped the land and open access to the world.

My thinkboards

LI: To practise drills and your basic facts.

For maths we had to practise with someone with our think boards. Our think boards helps us remember basic addition like 50 + 50. The think board helps you with 4 skills like a Venn diagram.
We also had to create a story problem, then we had to show how we answered a question and we had to practise basic addition. If you don't know how to add numbers like 50 + 50. You should think about what 5 + 5 is. So 5 + 5 is 10 that means 50 + 50 is 100 .I t's basically adding 5 +5 but your numbers are 50 where there is no ones but five tens.

Compound sentences

LI: To learn to use the fanboys conjunctions

What is a compound? A compound sentence is 2 ideas joined by fanboys.
What is fanboys? Fanboys are conjunctions which help make 2 sentences combined, which is a compound sentence. For this task we had to come up with a compound sentence which describes a photo. To create the sentence we used the fanboys, like so, because and more. We had to do this on each slide. Learning was compound sentence is fantastic.

Retelling a text

LI: Retelling a text is a important strategy to show understanding.

Retelling uses keywords to focus on important details. Ordering keywords helps retell the information in an easy to follow. Retelling helps show understanding by putting the text in your own words.
Retelling helps us understand if we have understood everything that has been read.

Commenting

LI: To comment on someones blog

For commenting we had to think of an dialogic comment which could continue a conversation. For commenting I commented on Rosalili's blog post about explores and adventures. I first thought of an dialogic question which could continue the sentence. Lastly I published my comment on her blog.

Basic facts

LI: To remember your basic facts

For basic facts I took the speed demon challenge up to 5's just to make it faster. All though my time was the same as last week. Next time I will take the speed up to 10's and hopefully get a much faster time.

SSR Selfie

LI: to summarise and retell a text.

For SSR selfie my book was called The Ultimate Guide To Science. By the name of the title the book is about science. I pick this book because I was really interested into science and I want to share what I learnt. In this book there is many facts like baby's have more cartilage than there human skeleton.
I enjoyed reading this book because it taught me a lot of information about science.

Rippa Rugby

LI: To learn how to play Rippa Rugby

For Kiwi Sport we went and some more rippa rugby with the Auckland Marist Rugby Club.We first started practising on our passing ability and some other techniques. Then we did our warm-up where all of us had to rip each others tag off and the last one with there tags still on wins. We played to rounds to keep the blood flowing.

Then we played a game of rippa rugby. It was boys versus girls. All of the boys were in the green team and all of the girls were in the red team. The green team (the all boys team) got the first trie which taua got for. The girls are keeped on pushing forward which made us tired. Then Te Raumati ran from one side to the other. So it was a draw.Training with the Auckland Marist Rugby Club was way better than last week.

Maths/basic addition

LI: To practise basic addition

For maths this week we practise basic and simple addition like 45+5. We used a google slide called think boards which helped remember the basic and simple maths questions. The we had to finish off our group image. Which was our group name and brackets all over the place.

Key words

This week we had use our book (Endangered animals) and keywords to unlock information.
First we needed to read our book. Next we needed to make a list of the keywords. Lastly we need to think of all the information that word unlocks as a reminder. I enjoyed learning about keywords.
