Basic facts

LI: To memorise your basic facts

For basic facts I took the speed demon challenge using multiplication.
My time was 4:54. I took way longer than I was expecting.
Well I'm looking forward to do this again and get a new score.

Maths | Proportion facts

LI: To solve proportions

For maths we learnt about how to solve proportions problems.What is a Proportion? (A Proportion is fractions or ratios that are equivalent).Oscar,Sione T and I have created game about proportion facts.This helps people who don't know what a proportion is.

Netball

LI: To play netball

The year 5 netball team versed 6 teams.Our first game for the year 5's was against Pt England primary school.We lost to Pt England by 2 nil, this made the team more focus and wanting to win.We practised taking the ball down the court and being able to score.Our second game was against Sylvia park school. it was a draw the score was 2 to 2. We started to feel happy and ready for more. Our third game was against panama road school.We tried our very best but unfortunately we lost by 1 point. The score was 3 to 2.Our fourth game was against Glen Taylor. This time we won, the score was 5 to 1.We won by 4 points, we started to focus more.Our final game was against Stonefield primary score. We smashed them with 5 nil. I started to feel proud. So we won 2 games, 1 draw and 2 loses.I was proud representing a school for cluster netball team.

Inquiry

LI: To learn about a pulley

For inquiry we learnt about this simple machine called pulley.
Your wondering what is a pulley? It's a simple machine made out of rope and wheel.
We learn what a pulley is by using 2 sticks and a rope.
The was 2 people holding one stick and 2 more people are holding the second stick.
one person pulls the rope and see's if the people holding the sticks falls.
On a DLO we had to write information about the pulley.


Advetisment

LI: To learn about persuasive tools Advertisement.

We are learning about persuasive tool in advertising. 
We first did some vocabulary and explain the meaning of the word.For our vocab we had to write information and show an meaning.Next we had to Adventist 5 slides that had information ready for us.Each slide included words like product,service,phrase,slogan and more. 
The 5 slides that we had to Adventist were about:


  • First slide (about earphones)
  • Second slide (about headphones)
  • Third slide ( about scotch tape)
  • fourth slide (about pringles)
  • fifth (about binoculars ) 
  • sixth (about fedex)

Swimming | Kiwisport

LI: To learn about water safety

For swimming we practised our skills that we have been doing for the past 6 weeks.Before we did a skill we did submerging we we had to sing the song "round and round the rose" and when it says down we had to submerge under the water.The first skill that we did for this session was called starfish float.A starfish float just like floating on your back but in a star shaped.The next skill that Susan's group (i'm in) was floating on your back using a noodle.Floating on your back using a noodle is basically when you wrap a noodle around your back and float on your back across to the other side.

Then we did this skill called doggy paddle. To do this you had to put your head up, put you hand under the water and paddle while you legs are kicking. After that we did another skill called dolphin dive. A dolphin dive is when you jump and dive down to the water jump out of the water and jump and dive over and over again. Lastly floating on our back . We had to put our feet under the this pole and we had to float on our aback to the other side.

Reading | What questions


LI: to comprehend and answer what questions

For reading we learnt to answer what questions.We learnt this skill by doing a task called what questions on a Google Slide.We learnt to answer questions that involved these words: Happening,Happened,Happens and Will.Happening means something that happened right now also known as present continuous.Happened means a move or an action that has been finished which also means past.Happens means something that happens most of the time also known as simple present.
Lastly will, will means something that hasn't happened yet which means what will happen in the future.I like this session because I learnt a new skill, I can't wait until we do some more "what" questions.

Swimming | Kiwisport

LI: to learn water safety

For swimming we learnt how to rescue someone who is in danger in the water. We also learnt how to get rescue from someone .To be able to rescue someone we used a noodle, so it can reach to the person in danger and to pull them back to safety.  First you need to go on your stomach or if you are sitting if the person pulls it you gonna fall. Next pull the person to floor or ground.
If you getting rescued first you need to call for help. Next grab a noodle or anything available that can help and you will get pull to safety.To make sure a persons in danger they had to give a signal for help.We had to use a partner to be able to do this. It's important to save some because you are saving someones life.

Print design rules

LI : To apply the print design rules

 We did print design rules again but we had to fix a poster.
 What we had to fix on each slide using print design rules:


  • First slide (fix colour)
  • Second slide (fix the text)
  • Third slide (fix the layout)
  • Last slide ( fix the composition)
There were 4 slide is total we had to fix. The first slide we had to fix the colour because it will look ugly. The next slide we had to fix the text,because if words contrast of the colour of the background it is very hard to be able to see. The third slide we had to fix the layout because the formation will look ugly and weird. The last slide we had to fix the composition the space would look ugly  and you have not taken up the whole space. 

Kiwi Can

LI: To control ourselves

We did a very hard and challenging activity. We were given 4 challenges in this activity.
In this activity it made us show resilience. The first challenge my group and I did was writing the alphabet backwards. What my group did to be able to do this challenge we sang forwards so we remember comes before the letter.

The next challenge we had to do was doing the Kiwi Can catch phrase, but using our own actions.It was hard trying to use different actions but we were able to do it.
Next we had to do exercises and we had to do these:

  • 5x Squats
  • 5x Push-ups
  • 5x Sit ups
  • 5x burbies
The challenge was to do this exercise over and over as much as possible.
My groups final challenge was to put the colours next to the Maori words.
It was hard trying to memorise the Maori word for each colour.
My group got 5/8.

Writing

For writing we had speech judge named Stevenson that have come from Tamaki Collage to Judge that who had the best speech and poem. 

We had to vote one of the poems and the best speech. It was hard trying to pick the best poem and speech. The people who had poems were the juniors form year 1 to 3 and the people who did speeches were year 4 to 6 .


My favourite speech out of the year 4 to 6 was Sulia's talking about The dangers of technology.One thing I learnt was that technology could be a dangerous thing to are health, and It can be a big ting in our life.


My favourite poem out of all the juniors from year 1 to year 3 was mercy's because she had a nice devilry (voice) and it was a fun poem. Mercy's poem was about a day on the so it was called earth day.After all the the poems and speeches Mr Stevenson said he top 3 speeches and poems.

I die the speed demon challenge on multiplication.

So that means I have to stop mucking around and get straight into it.

Inquiry

LI: To learn with S.T.E.A.M

We first looked at cars and test to see how it works.Next thing we had to do was create a wheel on a axle.We used paper that we had to cut out of, a straw and some tape, a pencil and scissors.First you have to poke a hole with a pencil.Next we had to put the holes that we cut on the straws.Then we had to tape and we were finish.

Next we learnt about leverage and what a lever is.A lever is leverage to create a long body fulcrum.
We had to test what leverage is by using a stick and we had to used different objects to lever.
Then we created a Google drawing and we had to answer questions about a lever.
Lastly we had to create a drawing of a lever.



Writing| Persuasive speech

LI: To create a persuasive speech

For writing we finally perform our persuasive speeches.
One thing I think I did really well was being able to perform and talk about my topic.
My topic was about Sports vs Gaming.
An element of persuasive speech that I used was skills and health issues.
The next thing that I need to do is capture peoples attention and give a better delivery (voice).

What is a main idea? It is sentences that talk about the main topic.We learnt the main idea by doing a task called main idea banks.I wrote a main idea by using the keywords to make the main idea.
The book that my me and my group did was called the solar system.

LI: To learn about self control and discipline

What is discipline? It's doing the right thing and the correct behaviour.
What is Self control? Self control is when you are able to control yourself.
We did a activity was when we had to perform a play that can show what disciplined means and what self control means. My play was about bullies trying to coves others to come an join and the others have to show self control and discipline.


Ratio Problem Quiz

LI: Earn money by creating with Maths

For Maths we learnt about what a ratio is.
What is a ratio? A ratio is a comparison of the amount of two or more things.
We learn three examples that can help us know what a ratio is.Oscar, Sione T and I have created a quiz about ratio's.This is a quiz Contains beginner questions to hard and difficult ones.
Well it's not really hard but it is good enough for beginners.

Swimming

LI: To learn water safety

In Susan's for Swimming we did different beginner skills.The first skill we did was floating on our back.So the first we had to put our feet on the pole and we had to float but without going to the other side, we had to just hold that possession.Next we had to float using a noodle. We first had to put the used the noodle to be able to help us float and to help us float to the other side. Then we had to do a streamline. A Streamline is when you put your arms up like a line and glide to the other side.Lastly we had to push off and float on our back. We just had to push off the wall (side) And float to the other side by kicking.

Swimming

LI:To learn water safety

For swimming I was in Susan's group.The first skill we did was Floating on back and legs against the wall.We used a pole to hold our legs to be able to float.The next skill we did was floating on a noodle.A noodle to float across the pool to the other side.Later on the day we glided with a float board. A float board is the same as a noodle but just a board. We had to put our face in the water and put the board in front of us and glide to the other side of the pool. Lastly we  had to glide on our back with the float board. We had to go on our back,put the board in front of us and float while gliding to the other side.

Inquiry

LI: To learn about S.T.E.A.M

For inquiry we learnt about the famous Rube Goldberg.In inquiry we are focusing on S.T.E.A.M.
S.T.E.A.M (Steam means science,technology,Engineering,art and mathematics). 
We know he is a great cartoonist back in the 20th century.
We first looked at who Rube Goldberg was, we had to find out the 5 W's and H about him 

Our next session for inquiry we had to watch this video made by Holden.
Then we had to go with another group to make a simple machine using our bodies.
We were given time to be able to know how our machine goes.
Then we had to perform our simple machine .
 Lastly we were given a challenge to be blindfolded and do our machine.
It was challenging but we were able to finish our machine.

LI: To learn about emotions and how they affect people.

Catch phrase: if you feel it, let it out, do't doubt just let it all out.

Some emotions that I learnt were misery,furious and exiting .
Misery can make you feel depressed and sad. We learnt about the affects of emotions by performing a act.

We have learn what fractions of sets are in math's. We had to also work in a group of 3 .

Sulia, Fau and I have created a game about Fractions of set.
It contains different Fractions that have the wrong answer and you have to find the right answer.

Persuasive

LI: To create a persuasive speech

For writing we had to create a persuasive speech.My topic was about Sports vs gaming.
So of cause I was talking about that sports can promotes healthy lifestyle for you.
I our speech we had to contain facts like Exercise is good for your mental health too, as it can battle feelings of anxiety,depression and it can sharpen your focus. After we are finish with speech we have to present our speech but 2 people are chosen to present their speech. I used a Google document to write my plan on this speech.


What does rhetorical question mean.?
It means that I question that is asked but you say nothing but in your head you know the answer.
We also had to prove are opinion which is a fact is better than gaming because it's bad for your mental well being.

Swimming

L.I: To learn new water skills

For swimming we learnt the stream line.  The stream line is when you put your arms in the air and put it together. I was also in Susan's group.Then you glide in the water smoothly to look good in the water . We also learnt how to float on our backs by practising on the bars.We also learnt to stream line and kicking our feet under water. We stream lined through the hoop.


Kiwi Can

LI. To show emotions

 Topic: Understanding emotions 

Theme: Our topic is Resilience. It means bouncing back and achieving a goal.

Our catch phrase: if you feel it, let it out, do't doubt just let it all out.

Energiser 
We played Do you feel it our kiwi can teacher will give us a challenge the challenge were to half-five people, Hold your breath for 5 seconds, To do a Plank with 10 seconds,20 seconds and 60 seconds which is a minute. Next we had tell our kiwi can teacher our emotion during  the challenge and tell our kiwi can teacher why.

Activity
Our activity was Emotion Charades for this game we had to be in groups and our kiwi can teacher will give us an act we have act it then we had to show the class.The difficult about this game is that we had to show them and not tell them.
They have to try and guess the emotional and the act.
Our act was on a roller coaster at Rainbows end.





MOTAT

LI. To learn STEAM

LS1, LS2 and Room 5 went to visit the MOTAT museum that had interesting things like different types of technology and other things. We explored around the place and investigating olden day transport's. There was other things like old telecommunication exhibits with dial phones.
We found a old town with a classroom and mysterious cottages.

Later on the trip we had to create a flashlight using a LED light.LED mean light emitting diode.
We worked in a group in 3. In y group it was Spelman,Sasuke and me.
First we had to make  the LED light to turn on. After we do that we had to get different blocks that look like Lego. We create the torch but we were able to make the LED light turn on.

Lastly we had to make a electric car using different materials.We used a piece of cardboard,Plastic wheels, straw and a axle. We had to work in partners. My partner was Texas.First we had to make the body of the car.To make the wheels to be able to stand we had to use the axle but we had to put it through the straw.Then we had to tape the wheels on to the cardboard which was the body of the car.
Then engine was the motor  and we were given a fan to make drive.
