Insect art | Summer learning journey

This summer learning journey task I was called insect.

We first went outside to find twigs, petals and leaves. After we found all the materials we needed, we had to make a insect.

The insect that I made was a butter fly.

Summer learning journey | fishy false

For our second activity we did a task called fishy false.

I first watched a video that gave me a understanding on what to do.

Afterwards I watched a video about 2 men fishing and one of them lose teeth. I watched the video to get a idea on what to write on my comic strip. Then I wrote my comic strip.

Here is my comic strip:

Activity 1 | SLJ | Nano girl

In the first part of the summer learning journey we were introduced to nano girl, also known as Michelle Dickson. She is a educator who teaches kids in New Zealand about science.

For our first task with nano girl, we had to go for a scavenger hunt to find some materials that we would be using with for the next 6 weeks.

We used screencastify to showcase we found during the treasure hunt.

Presentation

Today my group presented our presentation about our shelter to get the contract.

First we got prepared by practising our lines from our speech. We had to make sure that our speech persuades our clients.

After that we presented our speech. In our speech it involved why should they invest in it, the alternatives of each material, how we designed the shelter, and what we used to create it.

Our feedback was about most of the time being used by saying nothing like forgetting lines. Our second feedback was not showing our cardboard prototype while presenting. Our last feedback was about the look of our presentation.

Our feedback taught me to be fully prepared. It also taught me to pay more attention to the work. Next time I will learn to speak with more confidence.

Faulty Reasoning

Faulty Reasoning is giving a reason which didn't strongly convince another side of their argument. There are 5 types of faulty reasoning: illogical or simplified assumption, circular reasoning , over generalisation, contradiction and biased argument.

Circular reasoning is supporting a claim with the same claim.

Contradiction is providing evidence that goes against the original argument.

Illogical or simplified assumption is making a global statement when there are likely exceptions.

A over generalisation is making a global statement when there are likely exceptions.

A biased argument is making a claim that is influenced by your own personal feelings or experience

The first activity we did was to find a sentence that involves a faulty reasoning. We had to try figure out what faulty reasoning that the sentence was using. The second activity we did was where we had to guess what faulty reasoning that a sentence was using. The last and third activity we did was where we had to make a faulty reasoning sentence for the 5 faulty reasoning's.

Filming

This week my group started filming using our screenplays.

Before filming we practised our lines. We used our story boards to figure out what location that we are are going to film at.

After that we started filming the scenes of our narrative.  I found filming fun but hard because sometimes we forget what to say.
